The CIE Ecology Discussion Group will be up and running again at Burwood in 2014

John PatykowskiHi All,

The CIE Ecology Discussion Group will be up and running again at Burwood in 2014, with myself, Blake Allan and Christine Connelly taking over the reins from Euan Ritchie, who did a fantastic job organising the group throughout this year.

Beginning 7th January 2014, the discussion group will be held every Tuesday, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, in room BA1.08. At this stage, we are seeking topics that we as a group can discuss, so please feel free to send through your ideas! This could be anything from a paper you have recently read, a current or challenging topic, a draft manuscript you have written, ideas for potential or current research projects, an update on your current research project, a short (5 – 10 minute) talk/presentation, ideas for workshops… anything you like!

It is anticipated that the first meeting of 2014 will include planning out a schedule for the year ahead to accommodate all the ideas people submit, as well as getting to know each other (for those who may not have met)… did I mention there also will be cake?

The group is open to all honours and HDR students as well as staff, and we encourage you all to attend – if you know anyone who would be interested in attending but did not receive this email please let me know and I will add them to the list.

Finally, we have a page for the group on the CIE website, which will be updated with a schedule in due course. https://cie-deakin.com/local-events-burwood/

For now, I hope you can all come up with some interesting ideas for topics and we look forward to seeing you at the inaugural meeting for 2014!

Regards,
John Patykowski
