We are very excited to announce (on behalf of the organising committee) that this year’s School of Life and Environmental Science HDR conference will be held at Deakin’s scenic Warrnambool Campus, located at the end of the Great Ocean Road. The conference will be held from the evening of Wednesday 29th until late afternoon Friday 31st October 2014, and will consist of a diverse range of presentations, posters and social activities.
This is a great opportunity for us to present our work to our peers and to learn about the work of others from a variety of disciplines within the school. Additionally, this is a rare occasion where LES students and staff from all campuses can come together, which we should make the most of.
For Melbourne and Geelong students chartered buses will be available for transport to and from Warrnambool, and on campus student accommodation will be provided.
The exact schedule of the conference is still being finalised and the organising committee is in discussions with a number of guest speakers of different research expertise, who are sure to be engaging, inspiring and relevant to all of our disciplines.
HDR students are asked to present their research through either a poster presentation, short talk of 3 minutes or a standard talk of 10 minutes. Obviously, we are all at different stages of our research, which is reflected in the choice of presentations available. Although not mandatory, all students are strongly encouraged to present in some format.
We are now asking that everyone register by following the registration link below before the 15th August. Through this link you can choose your preferred presentation type and provide information on any special requirements (e.g. dietary). We require this information for the ongoing planning of the conference so your prompt registration is much appreciated.
*Please note that on the first page of the registration form the “number of seats” refers to number of registrants – i.e YOU (however it is set at one as a default, so please just click OK). The form also asks you to click “pay by credit card”, however this again is just the default and NO CREDIT CARD DETAILS ARE REQUIRED.
