The 2014 School of Life and Environmental Sciences HDR conference is almost here!
Here is some more information to help you make the most out of the conference:

Conference Program:

Travel Details (bus arrival and departure times):

Wednesday 29th of October:

  • 14:00 departure from Bus Stop at Deakin University, Burwood (~19 passengers). This is the main stop on Holland Ave
  • 15:30 pick up and depart from Bus Stop at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds (~38 passengers)
  • 17:30ish arrival at Deakin University, Warrnambool

Friday 31st of October:

  • 16:30 departure from Warrnambool
  • 18:45 drop off at Waurn Ponds
  • 20:00ish drop off at Burwood

Please note:

  • The bus has NOT been booked to travel via Geelong Waterfront Campus
  • The bus is a 57 seater coach provided by CDC Victoria (and might be a White Bus with Green Stripes, badged with Benders of Geelong)

Accommodation details (available facilities):

  • Check In Date: 29/10/2014
  • Estimated Arrival Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
  • Check Out Date: 31/10/2014
  • Room Allocation: TBA
  • Car Parking Required: Please note regulations listed below
  • Room Inclusions:
    1. Linen (inc. one doona) and pillow provided
    2. Please note that the room is heated, however guests may like to bring along an additional blanket for their comfort
    3. Towels and bathmats NOT provided
  • Location: The Reception Building is located on Lodge Drive, which is within the Deakin Warrnambool Campus. The University Campus is located on the Princes Highway, approximately 6km east of the Warrnambool CBD (Click here for a map)
  • Travelling from Melbourne: From the Princes Highway turn left onto Aitken Drive and enter the University Campus. Travel straight through the first roundabout onto Lodge Drive. Follow Lodge Drive until it ends and turn right. In approximately 200m you will see Reception (P Building) on the left hand side
  • Key Collection & Return: To be arranged by Conference Organiser. Please Note – Guests accept liability and costs associated for lost or non-returned keys
  • Car Parking: General car parking within the Deakin Campus is charged at $1.50 per hour, up to a maximum of $6 per day. These regulations apply from Monday to Friday (8am-4:30pm). Limited free parking is available within the Campus. Car parking charges do not apply on:
    1. Weekends
    2. The ten days immediately after Christmas Day
    3. The Easter break
    4. University orientation week and the first week of Trimester 1
  • Unit Inclusions and Facilities (Accommodation Inclusions & Facilities):
    1. Bed linen and pillows
    2. Towels are NOT provided
    3. Free Wifi is available – please request the current password at check in
    4. Each unit has a full kitchen, including fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and basic utensils
    5. Each unit has a bathroom with shower facilities
    6. Each unit has a laundry washing machine, dryer and iron
    7. Each unit has an appropriate sized lounge room equipped with TV/DVD
    8. For larger groups, arrangements can be made to provide a complimentary unit nearby for the purpose of a common room subject to availability
    9. Paid parking is available within close proximity to all units. Free parking is available within a 5-10 minute walk of the accommodation
  • Campus Facilities:
    1. Café (Monday to Friday)
    2. Conference facilities
    3. Gymnasium
    4. Recreational fishing / boating – Hopkins River
    5. Tennis
    6. Basketball / netball courts
    7. Golf course – nine holes
    8. Recreational oval

Feel free to print a hard copy version of the program although we will be providing some hard copy versions at the conference. We will also be circulating a pdf conference handbook, including abstracts sooner to the conference date.
