The 59th annual Australian Freshwater Sciences Society (AFSS) congress

When: 1 – 4 December 2019,  WAURN PONDS, VICTORIA

What: We are excited to announce Waurn Ponds will host the 59th annual Australian Freshwater Sciences Society (AFSS) congress in conjunction with the New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society.

The Australian Freshwater Sciences Society Congress brings together experts from across Australia and around the world in all disciplines of Freshwater science, presenting the most up to date research, management and policy initiatives. Every second year, this congress is held in conjunction with our colleagues in New Zealand, extending the reach and relevance of the discussions.

This year, we aim to extend the traditional bounds of the freshwater science discipline. Thus, the congress will be of interest to a wide range of scientists, managers, policy makers and communicators.

We look forward to discussing all things Freshwater in December. Other highlights will include conference field trips, community engagement and cultural experiences to expand our knowledge of some of the most important freshwater systems in Australia.

Who: We have a suite of exceptional plenary speakers, both national and international, attending the conference including:

  • Professor Janine Adams
  • Mr Ricky Archer
  • Professor Julian Olden
  • Dr. Jill Lancaster
  • Professor Angela Arthington
  • Dr. Joanne Clapcott
  • Professor Peter Tyler

* If you would like to organise a meeting with any of the invited speakers, please contact David Dodemaide (dode@deakin.edu.au). Meetings are subject to speaker availability.
